This is the last Full Moon of the Year, few hours before the Capricorn Winter Solstice and a Total Lunar Eclipse in the Gemini-Sagittarius angle. Not a small thing! All in aspect to Pluto in Capricorn, Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces, Juno in Virgo, Pallas in Capricorn and Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius.
For one thing, flights continue to be cancelled in the North of Europe and other parts of the world, which means that many people’s holidays are being ruined. In any case this could be a lesser wrong than getting into a plain in an eclipse with frozen runways.
But the meaning of Sagittarius, which is the sign where the Sun finds itself is a little more than all that. This is the third Full Moon ( Sun in Sag and Moon in Gemini) happening at the 29º of a sign, and as I mentioned in previous articles, this is a degree that speaks of the end that prepares us for a new beginning. The last station before we enter another country.
Perhaps this particular lunation is the most important of the 5 which happen at the 29º, since it coincides with the end of the Year, and what a year!.
This Full Moon is also in line with the Galactic Center, situated at 26º Sagittarius 55′, the powerful mysterious center point of our Galaxy. Changes have been happening all through the year and for many for a lot longer than that.
Last Total Lunar Eclipse was on the 21st of February 2008, right after the fall of Lehman Brothers and the beginning of the greatest economic crises since the 1930′s. When Bernard Madoff was still rich and powerful, and look where he is now, in jail and having to bear the suicide of his son. Things have changed, and although for many not that dramatically, big important changes have been happening since this famous T-Square between Saturn-Uranus-Jupiter and Pluto has been upon us.
The eclipse will be seen in parts of North America, West of South America, and in Europe only the Scandinavians will have that privilege. The actual eclipse will last only 72 minutes, but the effects of this eclipse will last a bit longer.
The Sun and the Moon make almost perfect squares to Uranus and Jupiter in Pisces and Juno in Virgo, but Mercury retrograde in Sag is also part of the equation and Pallas and Pluto in Capricorn are near enough. For all those born in the last degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces, as well as for those born in the beginning of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, the effect will be stronger. But what does all of this mean for us in everyday life?
It’ll help us bring into our conscience the aspects of our life that we are really departing from. Where we are evolving and what needs to be left behind in order to move forward. Attitudes, thought patterns, ideologies that no longer serve us to grow. What is that we need to develop from now on. It should be clearer now, the path to follow. Having clear goals help.
This is when we experience another death, not real DEATH but one of the many deaths we go through in life when our conscience shifts.
As airports keep being closed in England and many parts of Europe and North America, we are reminded of the meaning of Mercury Retrograde. Communication gets into trouble and traveling gets delayed.
With Juno being part of this planetary formation, we are in constant pressure to look into our relationships and realize our commitments, our responsibilities to our loved ones and to ourselves.
Juno is the archetype of the
Wife, the Queen of the household and her devotion and wars with her husband Zeus are famous in Greek Mythology. She is relentless in her struggle to keep her marriage and her family together. She will never leave her post, never mind what she needs to do in order to keep that going. But Pallas is also here to tell us that the real commitment is with ourselves and our primal obligation is to develop who we are, to follow our own individual path. So how do we manage? How do we deal with these apparent opposite impulses? Communication with our inner self is now a must.
Are we being the best we can be?, What do we need to do in order to do so? Will our partner, son, daughter, understand our need to follow our inner calling? How can we find the time and the energy to do it all?
These are some of the challenges of this eclipse. But we are never given a task without having been given the tools needed to do so.
We are already everything we need to be. We have inside all the tools. All we need to do is become aware of it, by listening to ourselves. Since this is a Gemini-Sagittarius connection, contact with nature is essential. A good walk in the woods or the sea side, or in the snow would do wonders.
The eclipse will happen early in the morning on Tuesday for Europe, so England if they get clear skies will see it too. As the shadow of the Earth hides the Moon we should ponder on our possibilities for the next year.
Uranus and Jupiter are part of this planetary equation, perhaps to remind us that we need that space to ourselves, that niche in our psyche where only us can move freely to discover what our soul is asking us to do, away from the confinements of obligations and responsibilities. What do we need to do in order to be happy?
Happiness is much easier than what we think. If you do some physical exercise, jump around in the cold or hot air, wherever you might be in the globe, smile a bit and clutch your fist, you should feel the energy of your own body moving filling you up with positive thoughts. Try this couple of times a day and you’ll see.
Being healthy is obviously an advantage, so we must work on this aspect too. Yeah! happiness is hard word, but not that complicated!
Vesta and Pholus are in Sagittarius too, helping in the task of fighting for what is right for us!
Be brave, become who you are and start the year with a smile!
Happy New Year everyone!
