On the 31st of December 2008, Saturn has gone retrograde until the 16th of May 2009.
I have written extensively about Saturn in Virgo, but still is good to remember that Saturn in retrograde motion will slow down the rate of activities that are represented by Saturn.
As we all know, this planet and the sign of Capricorn, have to do with institutions, structure, parenting, the bones, karma, the law, limitations, responsibilities, our boundaries, construction, real state, physical and psychological structures.
During Saturn’s retrograde period we have an opportunity to go back and assess commitments we might have made, or projects we may have started, without thinking all the details and the time that it will involve to realize them.
Time to stop and review our responsibility in different aspects of our life, that require our full attention. For those of us who are parents, we must rethink our role and reconsider the task at hand. For some, especially for Pisces, Gemini , Sagittarius and Virgo, taking care of an older parent could become a burden.
Whichever decisions we have undertaken, we must now measure all the pros and cons and reassess the situation and find compromises and new solutions.
For those of you who have taken greater responsibility at work with considerable loss of free time, will now have to find ways to rearrange your time, so that you find way of doing what you need to do.
For those who have engaged in some kind of health program in order to get healthier or lose weight, this is also a time to reassess the consequences of it.
All of these examples mean that you have to measure how much you can do, before getting really frustrated and angry with others as a result of your decisions.
If you have court cases pending, you will have to sit down and look at every single detail of the case in order to re-evaluate all the possibilities.
So, as you can see, none of the above is negative, but it can be very darn frustrating, DURING the time you are re-organizing or re-structuring everything.
The worst part of it is, that if you don’t do what you must do, then you will really feel the negative side of this planetary influence and it will seem that the world is against you.
The National Health program that Barack Obama is trying to implement, will of course, suffer delays, and inconveniences from the medical profession and other private sectors. It’s not going to be easy!
On the 11th of January, Mercury goes retrograde, for the first time in 2009, and it will do so two more times, before the end of the year.
This time is in the sign of Aquarius, so we can expect some delays in or with technological gadgets and communication.
It will dip back into Capricorn on the 20th, right on the day that Obama becomes officially the president of the United States of America. We’ll have to see what his speech will be like.
Mercury will station direct on the 1st of February still in Capricorn and it will not re-enter Aquarius until the 14th.
During this period it is common that communication suffers, messages are not delivered or understood properly, the signing of documents or contracts get delayed, every paper work that needs to be done, should be checked more than once, to avoid important mistakes.
This is when you throw your cell phone in the washing machine by mistake or pick up your friend’s after a coffee. Or your telephone line gets cut for incidences out of your control.
The positive side of it, is that you get some sort of extra time to think things over. Reviewing final details of any project that you might be getting involved with. Great opportunity to measure the relevance of the people you are getting involved with, to make up your mind before you give the next step.
In the case of Israel versus Gaza it will probably mean the unfortunate event of not being able to sit and hold some kind of compromise or talks to end the current situation.
Will these leaders on both sides ever realize that violence ONLY generates more violence???
How long do we need to understand some of this basic principles??
Hi Christina,
I just wanted to tell you that I just found your blog today. Also, I found this post very clear and useful to the average person regarding what the retrograde period will be about. Thank you for posting it.

Hola Christina, I LOVE your site. I am a 32 yr old guy and it is weird how I am becoming more interested in the stars! I have always like sports and recently started looking around on the net for STAR POWAH! I am a pisces, which I have learned are drawn to this stuff. I am also a fire dragon in the Chinese horoscopes. I have found some sites that conflict with one another for what the day, month, and year hold for me. I was wondering if you could tell me what this year holds for someone born on march 10 1976 at 450 AM CST. I know selfish little fish, but you seem to know your stuff.
Surfing….found your blog…Good stuff!!!..very imformative!!
Thanks for this, I found it very useful! I’ve just had my phone cut off (mistakenly), which seems amusing to think it might be Mercury in action!
RE Saturn: “All of these examples mean that you have to measure how much you can do, before getting really frustrated and angry with others as a result of your decisions.”
This really applies to me too: especially the dieting/taking on new work. Hmm, it explains a lot about how bad I’ve been feeling lately. Time to re-evaluate! Thanks. 🙂
