The market crisis and Astrology

As I have said before in other articles, the coming of Pluto into the sign of Capricorn, will transform the world of finances and of many big institutions for many years to come.

Pluto re-enters Capricorn, (which briefly visited between the 26th of January

2008 and the 15th of June when it glided back into Sagittarius) on the 27th of November 2008, where it will remain until the 19 of November 2024. Yes, just over 15 years within a sign that has to do or represents, among other things: finances, authority, institutions, social ambition, achievement, to mention but a few.

The last time that Pluto visited this sign of Capricorn was from January 1762 until the spring of 1977.

The American Independence comes to mind, it kicked off in 1775, when the Americans rebelled against excessive taxation from Great Britain.

Pluto is a symbol of Power, natural resources, sexuality, death, transformation, regeneration and as the ruler of the 8th house, other people’s money.

So, we can assume that during its passage through the sign of the Goat, we will be facing great transformation in institutions, finances and the power of management.

As it moves through Capricorn, is preparing to link with Saturn and Uranus in what we call in Astrology, a T-square. The last two will form an opposition which starts in November 2008 and it ends in the Fall 2010. Pluto will make a 90º angle to both this planets, aspect which will become exact on August 2010.

We are now transiting the threshold of this formation in an inevitable march towards it.

The interesting things is that such planetary formation happened once before, not in an identical way, but involving the same planets in 1929-30.

Beginning to get the picture?

Marjoree Orr , an astrologer that understand financial Astrology, says about that crisis:

“Astrologically speaking the 1929 crash and depression following was due partly to Neptune moving out of overblown Leo (the Roaring Twenties) into earthy Virgo undermining employment prospects; with Saturn in late Sagittarius moving towards bleaker times in Capricorn heading for a really tough opposition to Pluto in Cancer bringing deprivation and squaring Uranus in Aries in the early 1930s”.

Pluto in Cancer altered family life and changed the status of women, pulling them away from their primary role as homemakers with a tremendous upheaval from Uranus square Pluto. It was largely caused, as is this crisis, by irresponsible lending to Americans hoping to make their fortune on the stock market. The banks lent more than they possessed and the bubble burst with catastrophic results for the next decade”.

So, we are now heading for the same kind of Tsquare, with Uranus also in Aries, Saturn in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn.

I should also mention that Jupiter, the planet of excess has been and it is still, transiting Capricorn, which accounts for the excess in lending and the exuberance and over confidence of these same institutions that are now in trouble.

Are we heading to the same type of depression?

We don’t know yet, but what is more apparent this time, is that greed, arrogance and disregard for normal people’s affairs has something to do with this market crisis.

As Pluto entered Scorpio in 1983, the first cases of Aids became public and it took the whole transit of this planet through the sign of sexuality for us to change our attitude towards sex and understand it’s implications. It was also the time when Neptune was about to enter Capricorn and this combination somehow made it possible for governments to begin the deregulation of the banks and investment institutions which will probably lead to an even bigger financial disaster.

In 1995, moved into Sagittarius, where it remains until next November and it has brought so much death and transformation in the area of our believes by confronting us with fundamentalism and its consequences.

So, what are we to learn from its passage through Capricorn?
No doubts will end with the excess of power by certain institutions, like monarchies, governments, financial institutions in particular, like we are beginning to see.

But the excess of power of authority figures in general will become obvious, as it did in its brief visit to the sign, in the beginning of 2008, with the case of the Austrian father, Josef Fritzl and the case of the religious sect’s children, in the States, led by Warren Jeffs. Father figures, religious leaders (Capricorn) that sexually abuse (Pluto) their children or followers, are part of the package.

What is obvious is that we Humans, unconsciously (very unconsciously) know, what needs to be balanced, what needs to be taken care of, at different times, for the specie to continue, to save itself from extermination, and it seems that the planetary formations appear to reflect the changes taking place down here on Earth.

When the time is ripe, a man appears into the scene, who embodies the changes that need to be addressed in order for us to take notice of what is really going on.

As Bush represents the negative side of this, may be Obama, will be the carrier of the light! Would he?
